I-STEAM: Exploring STEAM Through Indigenous Perspectives

I-STEAM, offered by Building Stewardship Spirit (BSSEDU), provides a unique and enriching approach to STEAM education by integrating Indigenous activities and non-Western perspectives. This 6-hour session offers a captivating journey into Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics, all while exploring diverse cultural insights and practices.

What to Expect

Each I-STEAM session is designed to be interactive and engaging, with activities that may include:

• Indigenous Crafts: Dive into the art of Indigenous beadworking (creating accessories, lanyards, etc.), crafting ribbon shirts or skirts, making drums, and assembling medicine pouches.

• Cultural Connections: Deepen your understanding of the land, water, plants, and animals that inhabit the land, sky, and sea.

• Indigenous Innovation: Explore Indigenous engineering ideas, traditional tools, and technological advancements.

• Non-Western Explorations: Discover other non-Western activities such as Mandala weaving, storytelling through shadow puppetry, and learning about various non-Western technologies.

Session Details

• Duration: Each session is 6 hours, from 9 AM to 3 PM.

• Location: The location of each session varies depending on the activity, ensuring the most relevant and enriching environment.

• Tuition: $150 (before taxes) per session
